Participatory Videos- Communities Making Their Own Films
Rieko Kenya is piloting and deepening use of participatory videos in Kenya. Participatory Video is a set of techniques that involves a group or community in shaping and creating their own film. It values local knowledge, build bridges between communities and decision-makers, and enables people to develop greater control over the decisions affecting their lives, communicate their needs and ideas to decision-makers and/or other groups and communities, voice concerns or simply be creative and tell stories. Rieko Kenya is using it to change lives and amplify people’s voices in the process of empowering communities to move from the notion of passively talking of their rights to their responsibility, igniting them to meaningfully engage with the duty bearers for demanding transparency, accountability, inclusivity and responsibility |
